Our list of start-up items to order. These are the basic consumables to grow cells in culture including making media and seeding cells. The list includes example companies and catalog numbers. However, we often choose comparable items based on cost and shipping perks.
Please contact us if need help ordering equipment. To start, an education cell culture lab should budget ~$30K for equipment.
To perform cell culture, we need:
- cell line such as HeLa (0.5K)
- an inverted microscope (~1.5K)
- CO2 incubator (~15K)
- bucket centrifuge (~8K)
- pipet-aids (~1K)
- pipetmen (~1K)
If the plan is to cryopreserve the cells, store in a 40L biocane vessel to hold liquid nitrogen (~1.5K).
Since we are in education, we perform our cell cultures on the bench top and do not use a BSC Class II cabinet (~10K).
